1. RemBOt Overview
- -- --- ---- ----- ------------------------------- ----- ---- --- -- -

Have you ever tried to use BackOrifice to fix a problem on a friend's
computer, only to find that he doesn't know his I.P. address, and you
don't like using Rattler because you don't like all that spam mail? Or,
do you have BO installed in the computer at home and would like to
access it from work, but you can't because it has a dynamic I.P.
address?
RemBOt is here to change all that. With RemBOt, you will be notified
every time a BO server logs on, not by e-mail but by a message from
RemBOt. You can also launch the BO Client directly from RemBOt.

2. How to use RemBOt
- -- --- ---- ----- ------------------------------- ----- ---- --- -- -

First, you must configure Rattler (or any other e-mail notification
plugin) to use your static (or redirected) I.P. address as its SMTP
host, and use whichever port you have set in RemBOt's options. It would
be preferable if you set e-mail delay at 15 mins (900 secs), and
retries at about 60-70. Then, just install the server to any machine
you want to control, and launch RemBOt. You will be notified when the
user logs on.
The report detail option in the preferences dialog controls how much
information will be shown to you by RemBOt. Low means that you will
only see the I.P. of the user that logged on, Medium means that you
will see the I.P. and the subject line of the e-mail, and High means
that you will see the entire message body, subject headers, x-mailer,
etc.
If you double-click on the RemBOt icon in the tray, BO client will be
launched. If RemBOt can't find it, it will ask you for the path to the
executable or a BO workspace. If you want to launch another workspace,
go to the about box and double-click on the BO2K icon. You will again
be prompted to select the new path.

3. Disclaimer

This program is not intended for use with BO2K to damage other
computers. Using trojans to delete other people's files or damage their
computers is about the lamest thing one can do, and it can have legal
consequences. Consequently, you CANNOT use RemBOt if you plan to harm
other people's computers. You will get caught anyway if you do that,
because it's very easy to find out who logged into a specific computer
by analyzing the server.
BO2K is a very powerful remote administration tool, and I find it
very useful for transporting files or correcting registry/file problems
remotely. Once again, RemBOt is not designed for "infecting" users with
BO2K and then finding out who they are by using RemBOt. If that is why
you want RemBOt, I'm sorry, but you are not allowed to use it.
